Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirmed as Alberto Falcone in Dark Knight Rises

Yesterday we reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had confirmed his role in The Dark Knight Rises, after months of speculation.  Today, it seems that Variety has confirmed reports of the character Levitt will play: none other than Alberto Falcone, son of Carmine Falcone, played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins.  Levitt joins a cast which already includes Anne Hathaway (Catwoman), Tom Hardy (Bane), Gary Oldman(Jim Gordon), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth).

Carmine Falcone features as part of The Long Halloween and Dark Victory comics.  He is one of the characters that commit the holiday murders.  As the Holiday Killer, Falcone picks off members of the Maroni / Falcone crime syndicates.  There are another two holiday killers, but I won’t give any more spoilers away here.

The inclusion of Alberto Falcone certainly brings Nolan’s Batman story line full circle.  This will be cemented even further should  Talia Al Ghul appear in the picture too.  Still no reports whether Marion Cotillard has been confirmed for this role, or in fact if Al Ghul is a character at all in TDKR.  Watch this space for news as we hear about it.

About Richard Lennox

I started Filmoria in 2010, simply because I love films and I wanted to write about them. Movies have been formative in my life, and I hope they will continue to do so for many years to come. Now, I'm a father, and I can't wait to share my adventures through film, classics and new, with my daughter. I'm extremely thankful for the many, many wonderful opportunities that writing this site has brought me. And, thank you everyone who has helped me make this website what it is.
