Mark Ruffalo will star as Joe Albany in indie film “Low Down”

Mark Ruffalo recently turned heads with his award nominated performance in The Kids Are Alright. Now the film actor has turned his attention to indie picture Low Down, which will tell the story of acclaimed jazz pianist Joe Albany; his life and his relationship with his 11 year old daughter, Amy.

The story will be told from Amy’s point of view, as she observes her father, Albany, perform and socialise in a variety of venues, whilst also watching him delve into drug lows as he becomes dependant on heroin and alcohol.

Mark Ruffalo is acting as executive producer for the film, which will be directed by Jeff Preiss. Shooting is scheduled to start at the end of the year. This summer Ruffalo will be playing Dr Bruce Banner i.e. The Incredible Hulk in Marvel’s forthcoming Avengers film.
