Before Olivia Dunham of Fringe or Fox Mulder of The X-Files there was another seeker of the truth. That man was Carl Kolchak and every week he brought us a new mystery in Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Of course this was back in the seventies and that truth was more often than not a man in a dodgy rubber mask, but that could all be set to change with this exciting news from Disney. Yes the studio who are in the process of resurrecting one old TV show in the shape of The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp starring are about to go for the double and bring The Night Stalker to the big screen.
In fact Disney must be very impressed with Depp in Lone Ranger as they’re citing Night Stalker as a Depp vehicle, not only that but Edgar Wright has been placed firmly in the directors chair. The last time we heard from Wright was the spectacular Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, since then he’s been honing his writing and producing talents on Attack The Block and of course Tin Tin. His singular direction is always a treat to see on screen, add Depp into that mix and we’re looking at something very special indeed! This is literally hot-of-the-press news so there’s no talk of release dates or other stars at the moment. In fact Disney have yet to even identify a writer for the film so we could be in for a long wait. But however long the wait one things for sure, it’s going to be worth it!
