Kick-Ass 2 Set To Begin Shooting This Summer

Kick AssThere’s some surprising news this morning from an equally surprising source. Over the weekend comic book maestro Mark Millar was interviewed by The Daily Record in his native Scotland. During the interview he discussed various projects past and present, including his various Marvel re-boots and upcoming Matthew Vaughan collaboration Secret Service. What was most revealing, however, was a seemingly throw-away comment about a certain sequel that might be appearing sooner than first thought.

Yes, in-between comments on his dislike of California sunshine and NEDS (sort of a Scottish Vicky Pollard), he dropped this sentence into the conversation “We shoot Kick-Ass 2….this summer” exciting news I’m sure you’ll agree. Kick-Ass was one of the best comic book adaptations of the last few years. Its lack of super-powered heroes and prolific use of violence and bad language helped it to stand out in a field of copy-cats. News of a sequel isn’t in itself a surprise, with various stories doing the rounds toward the end of last year. However, the news that filming is to begin as soon as this summer is something of a surprise and a very welcome one. Whether the sequel carries the same name as the proposed second volume of the comic is another matter, after all Hollywood might not be quite so keen to promote Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall.
