Morgan Freeman Joins Hangover-Esque Comedy ‘Last Vegas’

Morgan FreemanThe Hangover turned out to be one of the biggest comedy films in years when it was released in 2009 and inevitably it spawned a sequel following this success. Unsurprisingly, other films since its release have attempted to follow suit with Vegas-style scenarios, excessive drinking and the aftermath of such events being used as the focal point.

Another film to be added to that list is Last Vegas, directed by Jon Turteltaub. Dubbed as ‘The Hangover meets Cocoon‘, the film focuses on four 70-somethings who heads to Las Vegas for one final batchelor party before one of them ties the knot. Already cast are Robert De Niro and Michael Douglas, and today sees Morgan Freeman added to the list of veteran actors.

Whilst sounding very similar to The Hangover, you can guarantee that with the acting prowess of Douglas, De Niro and Freeman this will be one interesting film. One cannot doubt that these guys have all the credentials to make a worthy entry into the comedy genre and news on further additions to the cast look set to impress.

Last Vegas is set for release in the US later this year.

About James Thompson

James is a 23 year old film fanatic who has recently taken the leap from talking about his passion for film to writing about it. Citing Donnie Darko as his favourite film, closely followed by Saving Private Ryan and Scarface, James is a keen follower of films from all genres and is always open to something new. “Despite never going to university to cover film, I believe that the passion I hold for this medium is huge. I am a regular cinema-goer, with an annual cinema pass of course, and I love a good blu ray view whilst carrying out my ironing duties at home! With an ever-growing dvd and blu ray collection at home my one golden rule is: Always unwrap a film once purchased, I hate films being left in their packaging! Hopefully you will all enjoy my content and share as much enthusiasm in film as I do”
