First Look at Professor X in X-Men: Days of Future Past

Bryan Singer has revealed the first look at Charles Xavier, AKA Professor X, from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past. But which X is it? Why, it’s older X, Patrick Stewart, returning to the mutant franchise from his one film hiatus when fellow Scottish compadre James McAvoy stepped into his shoes.

From the still, it looks like older Prof X is donning the kit of younger Prof X from First Class. It also looks like older Prof X is standing. Does Charlie get the use of his legs back in the future? Probably not; Its most likely just a head shot, so no wheelchair required.

James McAvoy returns as Professor X in Bryan Singer’s directorial return to the X-Men franchise. He’ll play a younger Professor X in the time-bending sequel, which will see X-gangs of future and past (hence the tital) work together to battle the relentless attack of The Sentinels, mutant hunting robots.

Joining McAvoy and Stewart are a plethora of X-actors, young and old; future and past… old X’s Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Daniel Cudmore will run into new X’s Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. Somewhere in that mix are eve newer X’s Peter Dinklage, Booboo Stewart and Omar Sy (a time travelling Bishop if ever I saw one).

Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is slated for release 18 July 2014.

About Richard Lennox

I started Filmoria in 2010, simply because I love films and I wanted to write about them. Movies have been formative in my life, and I hope they will continue to do so for many years to come. Now, I'm a father, and I can't wait to share my adventures through film, classics and new, with my daughter. I'm extremely thankful for the many, many wonderful opportunities that writing this site has brought me. And, thank you everyone who has helped me make this website what it is.
