Donning the infamous but muted blue suit and red cape, Cavill looks angry and not only at the rain pounding the pavement.
Not set for release until Spring 2016, initial photography sets a dark tone for Zack Snyder’s follow up to 2013’s Man of Steel. The “V” in the title hints at an epic face off between two of DC Comics’ best-known characters.
However, in an interview with USA Today, Snyder skilfully dodged questions about how the pair’s relationship unfolds. “Suffice it to say there is a ‘v’ in between their names,” Snyder said.
He cryptically added that having the “v” instead of “vs.” is a way “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, in the most subtle way.”
Filming of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has kicked off in Detroit, but it is not yet in full swing. Cavill and Affleck have only shot a few scenes together and Gal Gadot is still waiting to get in on the action as the big screen’s first Wonder Woman.
Jesse Eisenberg will also star as everyone’s favourite bald super villain Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons will play Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler Alfred.
Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Scoot McNairy and Tao Okamoto are also on the cast list, alongside returning Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on the 29th April 2016 in the UK and 6th May 2016 in the US.
