With the film already boasting two classic villains in Yahya Abdul-Mateen’s Black Manta and Patrick Wilson’s Orm Marius aka Ocean Master, James Wan’s Aquaman isn’t content with its current roster of individuals to come up against Jason Momoa’s underwater hero, with Dolph Lundgren now recruited to make it a trio of foes.

The Masters of the Universe and Expendables star has officially joined the roster as King Nereus, a warrior from the kingdom of Xebel, where Amber Heard’s Mera is originally from. Nereus claims Mera is his betrothed and therefore butts heads with AC.

Having recently appeared in DC’s own television show Arrow as a core villain, it’s great to see Lundgren back in the fold with yet another formidable foe for a DC hero to come up against and it begs the question, are we seeing a late career resurgence for the actor we’ve seen in so many action films through the year? Hopefully it’s a solid yes and Aquaman can be a showcase of villains done well, especially with the Slavic man mountain joined by two incredible actors to create the villainous trifecta.

Aquaman is scheduled for release on 21st December 2018.
