As you may well have gathered from our Flash and Arrow weekly television reviews, we are big fans of the DC small screen universe that has slowly been built up with great success via The CW network. With the aforementioned properties joined by Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow more recently, the scope for crossovers between these shows has been huge and already resulted in a four-part blockbuster piece of television at the back end of last year. At current, it feels as though there’s nothing stopping this combination of shows, and it looks like they’re about to get even bigger, with confirmation that Black Lightning is being added to The CW’s slate.

After it was confirmed that Fox had passed on the project, it would seem that the go-to network for superhero shows now has their hands on the superhero from DC and we’re sure this is going to be an interested project that will draw in a great audience. Jumping on with the popularity of black superheroes such as Marvel’s Luke Cage and the recent casting of Mehcad Brooks’ Jimmy Olsen / Guardian, Black Lightning is an exciting prospect.

Those who are unaware of who this hero is, Black Lightning debuted for DC in 1977, with the hero being Jefferson Pierce, a gold medal-winning Olympian whose main powers include electrical generation and manipulation. He has resided in Metropolis in the past, while also being involved with the Justice League and The Outsiders, led by Batman himself.

This is one project we’re very excited about and no doubt we’ll hear more about this one very soon.
