Hideo Kojima is known for 3 things.  Story, gameplay and graphics.  The Japanese video game ‘mogul’ has released two teaser trailers for the upcoming game Death Stranding so far and both have transfixed viewers to the aforementioned story and graphics of the game.  If you haven’t already, I strongly suggest you watch these teasers:

Confused?  Good, you should be.  Hideo Kojima is a master storyteller and at times, it seems his imagination know no bounds.  There are already conspiracy theories up to his shoulders with what the game really is.  Some say it’s the sucessor to Silent Hill P.T. (the critically acclaimed ‘playable teaser’ that never went any further than a teaser), others believe it’s an undercover Metal Gear Solid game.  Some even think Kojima has lost his marbles!

Whatever your take on the teasers, two things are clear.  This game will either be the best or worst move Kojima has ever made, and it’ll probably be the former.  Each trailer has introduced a new actor to the game’s cast.  Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame and Mads Mikkelsen (My personal favourite actor) of the recent blockbuster Star Wars: Rogue One are fantastic choices for this setting and the mystique only grows waiting for the next trailer.  Whilst Kojima is managing to keep very quiet about future details, some have theorised that Kevin Durand of The Strain is to be the next actor featured.  For me, this game would be made perfect with Aidan Gillen (Peytr Baelish, Game of Thrones) being cast as an unlikely hero.

However you look at these trailers, Death Stranding is on a path to shake the gaming world at its core with plot and perplexity.

I have a feeling we’re all going to absolutely love it.
