The trailer everybody was waiting for made its debut at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend. Behind the scenes footage from Star Wars:The Last Jedi, posters from Avengers:Affinity War and the announcement that Hugh Jackman will play Scar in the live action version of The Lion King were all there to whet the fans’ appetites. And they didn’t disappoint.
But it was the teaser trailer for Ava DuVernay’s much-anticipated A Wrinkle In Time that hit the headlines. Featuring a new take on the Eurythmics’ classic, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), it’s the first glimpse of the director’s re-imagining of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic science fantasy.
The story takes Meg Murry (Storm Reid), her brilliant brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and their friend Calvin (Levi Miller) on a dramatic journey into alternate dimensions to bring their father (Chris Pine) home. Oprah Winfrey stars as Mrs Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs Whatsit and Zach Galifianakis is The Happy Medium, while the cast also includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michael Pena. The screenplay is by Jennifer Lee, whose credits include Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and Zootropolis.
A Wrinkle In Time opens in the UK on 23 March 2018. And it looks magical.
