Lionsgate have unveiled the first poignant and powerful trailer for its Boston Marathon drama, Stronger. The film, directed by David Gordon Green (Prince Avalanche, Joe), is an adaptation of the Jeff Bauman memoir – recounting his horrific ordeal during the Boston Marathon bombing. Where he suffered the loss of his legs. Touching on both the event, and its aftermath. Subsequently following Jeff on his road to recovery, and the effects that this life-changing event has on his relationship with his loved ones, and his hometown.
The film stars Academy award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal as Bauman. Along with Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Clancy Brown and Miranda Richardson. Stronger will be the second film to depict events of that fateful day of April 15th, 2013. Following the 2016 thriller, Patriots Day – directed by Peter Berg.
Stronger is due for release through Lionsgate on September 22nd 2017.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Jeff, a 27-year-old, working-class Boston man who was at the marathon to try and win back his ex-girlfriend Erin (Tatiana Maslany). After regaining consciousness in the hospital, Jeff is able to help law enforcement identify one of the bombers, but his own battle has just begun. He tackles months of physical and emotional rehabilitation with the unwavering support of Erin and his family. It is Jeff’s deeply personal account of the heroic journey that tests a family’s bond, defines a community’s pride and inspires his inner courage to overcome devastating adversity. Filled with raw emotion, humanity and humor, Stronger is the inspirational real-life story of the man who became the living embodiment of “Boston Strong.”
