Sir Ridley Scott properties are a hot ticket this week! With Alien: Covenant due for its UK wide release on May 12th, WB have released the first full-length trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to sci-fi classic, Blade Runner, helmed by Sir Ridley back in 1982. Taking the director’s chair is acclaimed writer/director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrival), whilst Scott serves as executive producer.
Original star Harrison Ford returns as Rick Deckard. Former blade runner, now retired and living in exile – far from the bustling neo-noir tinged Los Angeles of the future. The sequel’s lead also features in the clip – Officer K, played by Ryan Gosling. A new blade runner who seeks out his predecessor to ask ‘some questions’. No doubt about his past dealings. And judging from Deckard’s welcoming, it looks like K may run into a few hurdles. We also have a glimpse at Jared Leto as Wallace, who appears to be overseeing the birth of a replicant.
This stunning trailer certainly captures the iconic visuals from the original film, which was lauded for its groundbreaking style and take on the sci-fi genre. It’s certainly enough to get us excited for Blade Runner 2049’s official release on October 6th.

The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, from a script by Hampton Fancer (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Alien: Covenant, Logan). It will be released through Warner Bros. Pictures on October 6th.
