December means only one thing, and it ain’t Christmas. Finally after so many months of patiently waiting, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – the most-anticipated movie of the year – is finally arriving in theatres. To celebrate the forthcoming release on Thursday, 15th December in the United Kingdom, and just 24 hours later in the United States, social media giant Twitter is getting in on the action.
On 2nd December (this coming Friday), Twitter is hosting a special Rogue One Live Stream Event. It’ll be online from 6pm GMT here in Blighty, and from 1pm ET Stateside. The stream will be active worldwide at RogueOne.twitter.com
Twitter, Disney, and People announced the collaborative online event today which will unveil never-before-seen content from Rogue One followed by a Q&A with the director and cast members from the film.
In attendance will be director Gareth Edwards, Lucasfilm President and Producer Kathleen Kennedy, and cast members including Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed. The Q&A will be hosted by People’s Deputy Editor, JD Heyman.
Fans can submit questions on Twitter for the cast to answer during the event by Tweeting with #AskRogueOne. Audiences can also Tweet with the following hashtags and a Star Wars Twitter emoji will automatically appear: #RogueOne, #DeathStar, #StarWars and #StarWarsRogueOne.
“People come to Twitter to see what’s happening in the entertainment world, and the conversation about movies, especially Star Wars, is constant on Twitter,” said Anthony Noto, COO at Twitter. “Our collaboration with Disney and People will give fans fresh and exciting live Star Wars content that they can view and Tweet about all on the same platform.”
