Things have been pretty quiet on the Star Trek: Discovery front of late, with the status of the upcoming television show somewhat kept on the down low but today sees a significant shift as Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs has been confirmed for the role of Captain Lorca. The man to lead the Starship Discover, Isaacs joins The Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh, new addition Mary Wiseman and Shazad Latif.
Isaacs is an impressive coup for the show, especially considering his work on the multiple Harry Potter films and his recent turn in Gore Verbinski‘s unsettling and unnerving A Cure For Wellness. With the show having seen plenty of setbacks and delays, Star Trek: Discovery is in production and the pilot will debut on CBS television, with the show continuing on streaming service, CBS All Access.
While an official date is still unknown, it is expected to arrive in the final quarter of 2017.
