The Red Dead Redemption 2 is one game where the first several hours of play can be very tiring as the character is traveling to and fro across the map.

The vim sapping weight of the open road could easily pass for Arthur Morgan’s greatest nemesis in the game ahead of the likes of the Pinkertons and the O’Driscolls.

However, if you can persevere and continue with the game just like in online slots, you’ll eventually unlock the fast travel mode and it is worth the effort.

This is not an easy feat to accomplish in the game because of the challenges that abound. However, Red Redemption 2 has the fast travel option and here are the steps to make it possible.

You must understand that upgrading Arthur’s tent at the outlaw camp located in Horseshoe Overlook makes the fast travel option available.

To ensure that this happens, you must have access to the camp’s ledger and this is not possible until you complete the first five missions in Chapter 2 of the game.

Once this is done, you can proceed to carry out your first mission for Leopold Strauss who is the doctor of the camp as well as a predatory money lender to folks who are in need.

The mission is referred to as Money Lending and Other Sins and it requires that you find your way to various spots throughout the map to demand debts. Once this is done, you’ll be able to access the ledger which is located next to Dutch’s tent.

The ledger will enable you to keep track of money and other items which were donated as camp funds. You can also utilize the money including your own to boost the supplies in the camp or buy a variety of upgrades.

It is required that you buy two specific upgrades in order to unlock fast travel. The first upgrade is mentioned in the ledger as First Things First and costs $220. Once this is done, you can then proceed to fix Arthur’s tent by paying $325 for the Next in Line upgrade.

After these steps have been completed, you’ll find a map which is pinned to the other side of the ammo wagon near Arthur’s tent.

A look at the map will result in the opening of a menu that enables you to fast travel to any town that you’ve visited previously. You’re effectively just a loading screen away from your next destination.

However, you must know that it’s a one-way ticket. This means that you can fast-travel from your camp but not to your camp. To travel to your camp, you’ll have to go through the trail in real time as is attainable in the game.

There are options that exist which could help out with travel but they’re ultimately not ideal. You can choose to buy a train ticket to travel from one town to another but it is expensive and is also exclusively between towns. Ultimately, no other method is as effective as fast travel.

Finally, fast travel in Red Redemption 2 entails thus; You’ll spend hours before you reach where you can pay for it. You’ll have to spend a significant amount of money to get it unlocked, but then, you’ll find it to be a need and very useful. This is regardless of how limited it is.
