The annual Evening Standard British Film Awards are nearly upon us, and today the newspaper has unveiled its long form list of this year’s nominees.

In contention for the top prize of Best Film include animation Ethel & Ernest, Palme d’Or winner I, Daniel Blake, and box-office smash Bridget Jones’s Baby. Independent offering such as Lady Macbeth and The Girl with All the Gifts are also in the running for a number of awards on the night.

The shortlist will be announced in the paper next Thursday. The three final contenders for the Everyman Award for Best Film will be screened to the public in Everyman cinemas in the last two weeks before all winners are revealed at the ceremony at Claridge’s on December 8.
