Sylvester Stallone signed a new deal to return as Dwight Manfredi, Scarlet Rose Stallone has been promoted to series regular, and four new regulars have joined. In the UK, the show streams on Paramount+; no Season 5 release date has been announced.

1. The Season 5 Renewal (2026, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: Paramount+ ordered Season 5 before a single episode of Season 4 had streamed.

Key data: Announced 5 October 2026; Season 4 premieres 16 October 2026; Season 5 cameras are already rolling in New York.

Why it matters: Renewing a show this early tells you Paramount sees Tulsa King as a banker, not a bet.

Most streamers sit on renewals now. They wait for 28 days of data, sometimes 90, then make the call. Paramount+ did the opposite here. Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and TVLine all reported the Season 5 order on Monday 5 October, and the timing is the story. Season 4 hasn’t aired yet. There’s no completion rate to study, no week-two drop to fret over. Paramount simply decided it already knew enough.

That confidence isn’t random. Tulsa King has been Paramount+’s most reliable original since it launched in November 2022, and it’s one of the few shows on the service that people sign up for specifically. An early renewal also has a practical edge: it locks in Stallone, who turned 80 in July, and the cast while production momentum is up. Pausing a show for a year to wait for numbers is exactly how you lose actors to other jobs.

Our read? This is less a vote of confidence in Season 4 and more a statement about the brand. Paramount has a lot riding on the Sheridan shows it gets to keep, and Tulsa King is the one with the movie star in it.

2. The Move to New York (Season 5, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: Dwight Manfredi, a man exiled from New York in the pilot, is finally going home, at least as a production base.

Key data: Season 1 shot in Oklahoma; Seasons 2 to 4 shot around Atlanta; Season 5 has started filming in New York.

Why it matters: It’s the show’s third production base in five seasons, and the first move driven by story rather than tax credits.

The premise of Tulsa King has always been a New Yorker out of place. Dwight walks out of prison after 25 years, and his own mob family ships him off to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to get him out of the way. So setting a whole season in New York is a big structural swing. According to the renewal reports, the new location replaces Atlanta because Season 5’s storyline explores Dwight’s mafia roots.

The earlier move was all about money. Season 1 filmed in Oklahoma and put roughly $56 million into the state’s economy, but production moved to Eagle Rock Studios in Norcross, outside Atlanta, for Season 2. Georgia’s film tax credit has no annual cap. Oklahoma’s incentives were capped at $30 million a year. Executives also mentioned Oklahoma’s wild weather, though the money was the main reason.

New York has its own generous production incentive, so this isn’t a creative choice that ignores the budget. It does change the look of the show, though. The wide-sky Oklahoma feel that’s defined the series will give way, at least in part, to the city Dwight spent his life in before prison. Whether Season 5 brings Dwight back to New York for good or just for an arc hasn’t been said.

3. Scarlet Rose Stallone Promoted (Season 5, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: Sylvester Stallone’s daughter goes from recurring player to series regular as Spencer.

Key data: Scarlet Rose Stallone returns as Spencer in Season 5 with a promotion to series regular, confirmed 5 October 2026.

Why it matters: It’s the clearest hint yet that the show is building out Dwight’s family as it heads to New York.

Scarlet Rose Stallone has played Spencer in the show already. Season 5 bumps her up to series regular, which in TV terms means a guaranteed presence across the season rather than a few appearances. Some will call it nepotism, and the casting will get that reaction online. It’s also a pretty logical move for a season about where Dwight comes from.

The show’s strongest dramatic material has rarely been the gunplay. It’s Dwight trying to rebuild something with the family his prison years cost him, especially his daughter Tina and his sister Joanne. A bigger role for Spencer fits that pattern. Paramount hasn’t said how Spencer fits into the New York storyline, and we’d rather not guess.

4. Four New Series Regulars (Season 5, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: The new faces are character actors with crime-drama pedigree, not big names.

Key data: Erik Palladino (ER, I Play Rocky), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Anthony Skordi (The Last Frontier) and Nickola Shreli (Power Book IV: Force).

Why it matters: Together with Scarlet Rose Stallone, that’s five new series regulars, which is a lot of new blood for a fifth season.

Erik Palladino is the “ER alum” from TVLine’s headline. British viewers who grew up on the Channel 4 and E4 runs of ER will know him as Dr Dave Malucci. His recent credit, I Play Rocky, is a film about Stallone getting Rocky made, which is a neat link to his new co-star.

Glenn Fleshler is a familiar face from Billions, and before that he played the bootlegger George Remus in Boardwalk Empire. That one matters. Boardwalk Empire was Terence Winter’s show, and Winter is back as Tulsa King’s head writer for Season 4 (see item 7). Anthony Skordi comes from The Last Frontier. Nickola Shreli’s credits include Power Book IV: Force, another series built around crime families.

No character names or descriptions were given for the four newcomers. Given the setting, you’d expect a fresh layer of New York mob figures, but nobody has said that on the record yet.

5. Stallone’s New Deal (2026, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: The renewal only happened once Stallone signed a new contract.

Key data: Stallone signed a new deal for Season 5, similar to the one he signed covering Seasons 3 and 4; the terms haven’t been disclosed.

Why it matters: Tulsa King doesn’t exist without him, and every renewal now depends on an 80-year-old lead staying keen.

The Deadline report says Stallone recently signed a new deal that helped clinch the renewal. That’s the same pattern as before: one contract for Seasons 3 and 4, another for Season 5. No fee has been reported, so we won’t quote one.

What’s striking is how central he still is. Stallone is also an executive producer, alongside Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Thomas Kelly and Keith Cox. The show’s pitch has always rested on one image: Rocky and Rambo, older, in a sharp suit, still punching. At 80, Stallone is past retirement age for most leading men, but Paramount is plainly betting on one more year.

A fair question is how long this lasts. Nobody has called Season 5 the final season, and Paramount hasn’t put an end date on the show. We’d treat each new contract as the real indicator of whether there’s a Season 6.

6. Season 4 Comes First (16 October 2026, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: The renewal news lands eleven days before Season 4 even starts.

Key data: Premieres Friday 16 October 2026 on Paramount+, with new episodes weekly; Gretchen Mol joins as a series regular; the episode count hasn’t been confirmed.

Why it matters: Season 4 sets up whatever drags Dwight back to New York, so you’ll want to watch it first.

Paramount’s official logline says Dwight “fights to legitimize his empire and protect his crew as corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies, and a crushing personal loss hit from every direction.” It goes on to say each move drags him deeper into the street instincts he left behind in New York. Read that alongside the Season 5 news and the arc becomes pretty clear.

The returning cast is large: Martin Starr, Jay Will, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Frank Grillo, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, James Russo, Kevin Pollak, Neal McDonough, Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany. Gretchen Mol joins as a series regular.

A quick catch-up on where Season 3 left things. Dwight’s war with the bourbon baron Jeremiah Dunmire peaked when Dunmire kidnapped his sister Joanne. Dwight rescued her and burned Dunmire alive. He also traded a confession from the arsonist Deacon to FBI agent Musso for his freedom and a federal liquor license. He ended the season celebrating at the Bred2Buck. That’s a lot of loose ends for Season 4 to tie up, and a lot of enemies for that “crushing personal loss” to come from.

7. The Showrunner Turnover (2022 to 2026, 101 Studios)

What makes it stand out: Tulsa King has changed its creative lead almost every season, and once tried running without one.

Key data: Terence Winter ran Season 1; he left before Season 2; Dave Erickson ran Season 3; Season 4 began prep with no showrunner before Winter returned as head writer.

Why it matters: Season 5’s showrunner hasn’t been named, and that’s the biggest open question about its quality.

Here’s our verdict, clearly labelled: the renewal is safe, but the creative leadership isn’t settled. Terence Winter, the Sopranos writer and Boardwalk Empire creator, was the original showrunner. He left before Season 2, and then sat out Season 3 to work on an FX series about the mobster Sammy “The Bull” Gravano. Dave Erickson ran Season 3 and then moved on to run Mayor of Kingstown, another Sheridan show.

Season 4 is where it got strange. Variety reported that Winter would return when Season 4 was ordered. But as prep began in Atlanta in November 2025, there was no showrunner in place. Scott Stone, the 101 Studios executive in charge of production, put it bluntly: “We’re not going to have a showrunner. 101 is the showrunner.” Deadline later reported that Winter had been chosen to run Season 4, and Paramount’s Season 4 materials credit him as head writer and executive producer.

None of the 5 October coverage names a Season 5 showrunner. With the show moving to New York, Winter’s home turf as a writer, he’d be the obvious pick. Paramount hasn’t confirmed it, though.

8. The Season 4 Crew Shake-Up (November 2025, Atlanta)

What makes it stand out: Stallone’s long-time stunt double was among the crew members let go.

Key data: 26 of a roughly 600-person crew were replaced weeks before Season 4 filming, across sound, camera, stunts, rigging, transport, the production office and extras casting.

Why it matters: A fresh move to New York means building another crew from scratch, after a messy changeover the last time.

TheWrap reported in November 2025 that 26 crew members were let go just before cameras rolled on Season 4. The best-known was Freddie Poole, who’d worked with Stallone for 14 years and earned two Emmy nominations for his stunt work on Tulsa King. Chad Gregory, Stallone’s stand-in for the first three seasons, heard through word of mouth that he wasn’t coming back.

It’s worth remembering because Season 5 changes cities again. Moving to New York means hiring heavily from the local crew base. Some Atlanta crew may follow, but production has relocated, and that usually means a lot of new hires. Bumpy transitions don’t always show on screen, but crews are where long-running shows keep their rhythm.

9. The Viewing Numbers Behind It (2022 to 2025, Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: Season 2’s premiere set Paramount+’s record for the most-watched global series premiere at the time.

Key data: Season 1 premiere 3.7m viewers (Nielsen, day-of streams plus a Paramount Network airing); Season 2 premiere 21.1m global viewers; No. 1 global Paramount+ original of 2024.

Why it matters: Those numbers explain the early renewal better than any press release.

The numbers have grown with each season. When Tulsa King launched on 13 November 2022, Nielsen counted 3.7 million viewers across day-of Paramount+ streams and a special Paramount Network premiere. Paramount said that night, paired with NFL on CBS, set a record for single-day subscriber growth since Paramount+ launched. The first season ran nine episodes and finished on 8 January 2023.

Season 2 premiered on 15 September 2024 to 21.1 million global streaming viewers, a Paramount+ record for a series premiere at the time. Paramount also reported 159 million social views for the season, up 894% on Season 1. Tulsa King was the No. 1 global Paramount+ original series of 2024 and ranked among the top ten originals across all subscription streamers in the fourth quarter.

Season 3 arrived on 21 September 2025. A week after the premiere, it was the most-watched show on Paramount+’s global charts and second in the US. Paramount has published less precise data for Season 3 than it did for Season 2, so we can’t say for sure whether it grew. Put simply, the audience is big and loyal, and that’s what earned the early order.

10. The Frisco King Spinoff (Paramount+)

What makes it stand out: Samuel L. Jackson’s spinoff has changed its title, setting and filming location since it was ordered.

Key data: Originally NOLA King (set in New Orleans), now Frisco King, set in Frisco, Texas, and produced in Fort Worth; Sheridan is writing all eight episodes; there’s no premiere date yet.

Why it matters: Tulsa King is now a franchise, and the mothership’s health props up the spinoff.

Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., introduced in Tulsa King Season 3. He met Dwight in federal prison and was sent to Tulsa to kill him. In the original pitch, he returned to New Orleans, the home he’d abandoned forty years earlier, to reconnect with family and take over the city. That version became Frisco King when the series moved to Texas, with the new title reported in February 2026.

The cast also includes Kai Caster, Asa Germann, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann. Taylor Sheridan is writing all eight episodes of the first season himself, which says a lot about how much it matters to him. Paramount+ still hasn’t given it a premiere date. With Tulsa King now heading to New York and Frisco King in Texas, the two shows look set to run along fairly separate paths.

11. Sheridan’s Exit and the Paramount+ Picture (2025 to 2026, Paramount Skydance)

What makes it stand out: Taylor Sheridan is leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal, but Tulsa King stays put.

Key data: Paramount keeps the rights to the existing Sheridan franchises; Paramount+ reached 81.6 million subscribers in Q2 2026, adding about 2 million in the quarter.

Why it matters: Sheridan shows Paramount already owns are now worth more than ever, because there won’t be new ones.

Sheridan’s departure was one of the biggest industry stories of the past year. After Skydance bought Paramount, several executives he’d worked with were fired or sidelined, and the budgets of some of his shows came under scrutiny. Shows like 1923 and Lioness reportedly cost $15 to $20 million an episode. His new NBCUniversal arrangement starts with a film deal, while his NBCUniversal TV deal kicks in on 1 January 2029. His producing partner David Glasser and 101 Studios have also signed a first-look deal there.

Crucially for this story, Paramount keeps all the existing Sheridan franchises, and Sheridan continues to oversee them, including Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Landman and the Yellowstone spinoffs. That makes the current shows Paramount’s last supply of new Sheridan series, and you can see why it’d want to keep them going.

The service needs them, too. Paramount Skydance’s Q2 2026 results put Paramount+ at 81.6 million subscribers, with direct-to-consumer revenue up 16% year on year. That’s healthy growth, but Paramount+ is still far smaller than Netflix, and proven hits like Tulsa King do much of the work keeping subscribers from cancelling.

12. How to Watch in the UK (Paramount+ UK)

What makes it stand out: UK viewers watch Tulsa King on Paramount+, not on Netflix, Prime Video or Sky’s own channels.

Key data: Paramount+ UK streams Seasons 1 to 3; the Standard plan costs £9.99 a month since 27 August 2026; Season 4’s announced premiere date is 16 October 2026.

Why it matters: If you’ve let your subscription lapse, now’s the time to work out whether it’s worth coming back.

Paramount+ has been the UK home of Tulsa King since the first season. The service has put its prices up, though. From 27 August 2026, the Standard monthly plan went from £7.99 to £9.99, a 25% rise for new and existing subscribers.

Paramount has announced 16 October 2026 as the Season 4 premiere date for Paramount+, with weekly episodes. We haven’t seen a separate UK schedule, so check the app on the day. Season 5 has no release date anywhere, and nothing has been confirmed for the UK.

One tip if you’re coming back after a break: you don’t need to rewatch everything. The Season 3 finale and the Season 4 premiere are the two episodes that matter most for following where Dwight ends up.

What This Renewal Really Means

Tulsa King Season 5 is happening, it’s already filming, and it’s taking Dwight Manfredi back to New York. That’s the headline. The details beneath it are more interesting. Paramount renewed it before Season 4 aired because it can’t afford to lose one of its few dependable hits, especially now that Taylor Sheridan’s new projects will go to NBCUniversal. Stallone signed on again at 80. The cast is growing. But the show still hasn’t settled who runs it, and its crew has been through two major changes in a year. Season 4 on 16 October is the first test of how well Terence Winter’s return has worked. Season 5’s move home will be the bigger test.
