Newcomer Willow Shields has been cast as Primrose Everdeen in The Hunger Games. The film, which is an adaptation of the best selling young-adult novel series by Suzanne Collins. The story takes place in a future time period, where girls and boys between the ages of 12 and 18 are picked to take part in a nationalised televisied event known as The Hunger Games, where each contestant must survive by fighting their opponents to the death. Primrose is the younger sister of Katniss Everdeen, who will be played by the wonderful Jennifer Lawrence. When Primrose is picked to take part in the games, Katniss steps in to take her place.
The film will be directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) for Lionsgate Pictures and also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Elizabeth Banks. The picture is set to start production later this year.
