If you’re of a certain age then, like me, you probably have a soft spot for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Reaching the height of their fame in the late eighties and early nineties the emerald crime fighters Nunchaku’d their way from TV to cinema in three live action films. Since those halcyon days the turtles have risen and fallen several times, a well meaning, if somewhat hollow, CGI film in 2007 tried to reboot the franchise, but to no avail. Well shell-heads it looks like today is the day the turtles climb back out of the sewers because a new film is on the way!
Jonathan Liebesman, about to thrill us all with Wrath Of The Titans, is currently being wooed by Paramount as the man to direct a new outing. Rumoured to be a live action re-boot there’s nothing known story wise yet, but rest assured we’ll be seeing some familiar faces. The turtles enigmatic sensei Splinter is sure to feature as is the evil Shredder, head of the foot clan. Whether we get to see some of the more outlandish turtles characters, Rock-steady, Be-Bop and evil war-lord Krang come on down, remains to be seen, but with a whole universe of bad guys out there we’re sure to be in for a treat. More news on this as we get it, in the meantime let’s hope it’s only a matter of time until we’re bringing you news of a Biker Mice From Mars re-boot helmed by Terence Malick.
