Anna Kendrick To Play Female Santa Claus For Disney

Everybody loves Anna Kendrick, and rightly so. She is one of the coolest, funniest, and smartest in the industry, and is now a huge audience draw, too. News developing today is that the Pitch Perfect star is in conversations with Walt Disney Studios to join a Christmas movie in which she will play a female version of Santa Claus.
The picture, known only as Nicole at this point, “revolves around Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight,” according to Variety.
This will serve as her second Christmas film after starring in Joe Swanberg’s ridiculously underrated Happy Christmas back in 2014 (seriously, check that movie out if you haven’t already; it is glorious).
Set to be directed by Marc Lawrence, who’ll also pen the screenplay, Nicole sounds like a definitive Kendrick role: airy, heartfelt, and exceeding genre traditions. Other films to come from the Oscar-nominated actress in 2017 include Table 19 which co-stars Stephen Merchant, June Squibb, and Craig Robertson, as well as the highly-anticipated third entry in the Pitch Perfect franchise.
