Arrival: Connection & Communication – A Video Essay
FeaturesMovies 15th November 2016 Chris Haydon 0

We at Filmoria are tremendous fans of Denis Villeneuve’s ethereal and overwhelmingly profound science-fiction drama Arrival. In fact, we love the movie so dearly, our man Martin White brandished it with five glowing stars in our official review, and sub-editor Chris Haydon has created a detailed video essay all about it, too.
In Arrival: Connection & Communication, we explore the detailed themes and palettes of Villeneuve’s latest; explaining how it uses the titular methods to render character and tone, as well as strengthen the attachments to narrative progression and symbolic meaning.
Check out the essay piece below if you have seen the film already; if not, be sure to come back once you have because SPOILERS…

Let us know in the comments below what you think of the video, and indeed your thoughts on Arrival; we’d love to hear your theories on this puzzling masterpiece!
Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, Arrival is out now on wide release in UK cinemas.
