Legendary screen actress Sigourney Weaver has gone on-the-record to say James Cameron’s long-awaited Avatar sequel will begin production in 2017.
The film has been subjected to copious delays and reschedules, with recent word stating the film would still not be ready for a Christmas 2018 unveiling. However in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Weaver have pleased fans by at least stating the shooting is ready to get underway in the Autumn/Fall season.
“We’re starting! We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.”
Cameron has previously stated that all the scripts for the Avatar sequels – four in total – have been penned, and that both Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are on-board to reprise their roles, alongside Weaver.
“I’m telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I’m not worried about [disappointing fans] at all. Am I worried about how we’re going to bring them to life? Yes, because they’re so ambitious. They’re so worth it. They’re well worth waiting for. I’m not worried about that at all. We’re trying to get it done as quickly as possible.”
