Action cinema is often the most difficult to execute properly and garner audience appreciation, especially when it comes to dynamic direction that delivers slick and well shot sequences of fast-paced action. Shaky-cam can often ruin the whole idea of an action film’s definition, but one film that looks to put that to shame is David Leitch’s Atomic Blonde. The man who brought to us John Wick and will be looking to continue to the run of form for Deadpool 2 unleashes Charlize Theron as a dangerous intelligence agent who will stop at nothing to get the job done.

Following yesterday’s teaser, today sees the debut of the ultra-violent, scintillating first trailer for the movie which proves that Theron is still as badass as they come and she’s got all the weapons in her arsenal to make the best possible action heroine going. Backed by Queen’s ‘Killer Queen’ it’s a barrage of bullets, fist fights and blood-splatter that’ll grab you’re attention almost immediately. Add to that the inclusion of James McAvoy and some sauciness with Sofia Boutella and every box is officially ticked.

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission.  Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

Atomic Blonde is released on 11th August.
