Having seen a rather positive outcome from the festival circuit, it’s fair to say that the latest film from Pete Travis (Dredd) is one that is definitely on our radar, especially with Rogue One star Riz Ahmed in the starring role, alongside Billie Piper who is set to continue on from of her career-defining roles in television to play a very similar character who crosses paths with Ahmed.

City Of Tiny Lights looks to be a beautifully shot and intriguing London noir that is drenched in neon and simmers under a drab and dark underbelly of London streets. Ahmed looks to be on top form and it’s great to see Piper on the big screen making her mark beyond the television realms.

Meet Tommy Akhtar (Riz Ahmed), cricket fan, devoted son to an ailing father and deadbeat private eye. He’s got an office above a suburban cab firm, a taste for cigarettes and bourbon, and a finely tuned moral compass that he keeps hidden behind a sharp cynicism.

When Tommy walks into his office one morning to find high-class prostitute Melody seeking his help, he’s launched into a story that plays as an utterly original modern noir.

City Of Tiny Lights is released in the UK on 7th April.
