Based on the 2005 novel written by Darryl Ponicsan – the film chronicles the reunion of three Vietnam war veterans; Larry, Sal and Richard (Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne respectively), following the death of Larry’s son during the Iraq war. The screenplay was co-developed by Linklater and Ponicscan.

Last Flag Flying received its European premiere during the BFI London Film Festival back in October, with the official UK release announced soon after. Ahead of this, Curzon Cinemas will be showing an advanced screening of the film on January 21st. Along with a special Q&A session with star Bryan Cranston that will be broadcast live to cinemas nationwide.

In 2003, 30 years after they served together in the Vietnam War, former Navy Corps medic Larry “Doc” Shepherd (Steve Carell) finds Former Marines Sal Nealon (Bryan Cranston) and Reverend Richard Mueller (Laurence Fishburne) on a different type of mission: to bury Doc’s son, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War. Doc decides to forgo a military burial and, with the help of his old buddies, takes the casket on a trip up the East Coast to his suburban home town. Along the way, Doc, Sal and Mueller rekindle old friendships as they come to terms with the wars that continue to shape their lives.
