First Images From David Lowery’s A Ghost Story Starring Rooney Mara & Casey Affleck

Just a handful of days ago it was announced that director David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon) made a “secret movie” with stars Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck over the summertime, and now it has now been announced to debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Screening as part of the independent festival’s NEXT section, A Ghost Story is still staying very firmly under wraps, with little known of the film’s narrative, genre, or tone, but today sees a pair of gorgeously ambient stills arrive which offer some sort of indication. Whatever the movie tells of, it is most certainly going to be essential viewing giving the talent attached, and these haunting images feel appropriate given the movie’s title.

Rooney Mara will next be seen alongside Dev Patel in Oscar-hopeful Lion, whilst Casey Affleck is the firm frontrunner (rightly so…) for his heartbreaking and magnetic performance in Kenneth Lonergan’s exceptional Manchester by the Sea.
