It’s been a busy time over at E3. And as one of the world’s biggest publishing giants – Square Enix were on hand to deliver exciting news for fans of the much loved Life Is Strange. The episodic graphic adventure that took the world by storm back in 2015.

Today it was revealed that a 3-part prequel to the game, Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, will be the next instalment in the award-winning, multi-million selling franchise. The announcement was made with a cinematic trailer for the game, as part of the Xbox E3 briefing – exclusively shown in support of the release for its first episode.

Lee Singleton, Head of Studio at Square Enix London, commented in light of the announcement that this was a “direct response to fans asking to return to Arcadia Bay.” Which is certainly indicative of the immense popularity the series garnered – from gamers and critics alike. Citing its mechanics, and poignant narrative as particular highlights.

He added – “Many people can identify a particular person who significantly influenced their life; the person that ultimately shaped who they became. Life Is Strange: Before The Storm is about this exact moment.”

Before The Storm is being developed by the Denver based Deck Nine Studios. The team have additionally released a direct video, with even more details on the game that can be found on a new Tumblr blog here. The game will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on August 31 2017.

LIFE IS STRANGE: BEFORE THE STORM is set in Arcadia Bay, three years before the events of the first game in the series. Players will take on the role of a rebellious 16 year-old Chloe Price who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber; a beautiful and popular girl destined for success. When Rachel’s world is turned upside down by a family secret, it takes this new-found alliance to give each other the strength to overcome their demons.
