Writer-director Harry Lighton’s BAFTA and BIFA-nominated Wren Boys explores the remoulding of traditions in modern Ireland. This surprising live-action short has screened in competition at festivals including Sundance, BFI London Film Festival, SXSW, Rhode Island Film Festival, Galway Film Festival and more. Wren Boys qualified to be considered for an Oscar when it won the Best Short Film award at Galway Film Fleadh.

Being an Irish Catholic Priest keeps you busy at Christmas. Particularly when your nephew asks you to spend it driving him to prison to visit an unpredictable inmate. After the visit, within the prison walls, a threat of extreme violence erupts.

British director Harry Lighton’s short films Wren Boys, Leash and Sunday Morning Come Down have screened in competition and won many awards at film festivals around the world. Lighton’s first feature has been commissioned by BBC Films and will be produced by the Oscar-winning company, Element Films.

BAFTA-nominated producer Sorcha Bacon is the founder of Try Hard Films. The company champions character-led stories which bring marginalised voices and narratives to the screen. In 2018 Sorcha was announced as one of six emerging LGBT filmmakers in partnership with BAFTA and the BFI and is currently building her feature slate with a number of emerging writers & directors.

Wren Boys is distributed by Salaud Morisset and the award-winning cinematography was created by Nick Morris.
