Aardman Animation and StudioCanal have confirmed this afternoon that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has joined the cast for their forthcoming prehistoric tale Early Man.

Directed by master craftsman Nick Park – the genius behind Wallace and Gromit – the hugely-anticipated animated comedy will see Williams lend her voice to Goona, the gallant and indomitable rebel who befriends the film’s hero Dug (Eddie Redmayne), who helps steer him through the clash of the Stone Age and Bronze Age civilisations.

“I’m a huge Aardman fan – having the chance to work with Nick Park is a dream come true, especially as I get to voice such a fantastic character as Goona,” said Williams. “I can’t wait for audiences to meet her”.

“Maisie is a terrific actress, and she is of course no stranger to embodying a valiant heroine,” added director Nick Park. “I’m most excited to see her breathe life into Goona – I know she’ll be the perfect ally to Eddie’s Dug.”

Early Man also stars Tom Hiddleston as the principal villain Lord Nooth, and is scheduled for a UK release on January 26th 2018. The film is currently in production.
