Cannes, May 13, 2019:  Myriad Pictures announced today that it will finance and handle international sales on the biopic TATE, starring Kate Bosworth (Beyond the Sea, Superman Returns, Still Alice, 21) as Sharon Tate. The film is written by Michael Polish and William Day Frank. Polish is also set to direct. Kate BosworthMichael PolishNick Phillips, Myriad’s Kirk D’Amicoare set to produce. Make Pictures Productions, Bosworth and Polish’s production company, will co-produce. Barbara McCarthy is attached as casting director. Principal photography will commence later this year in Budapest. Myriad Pictures will begin sales on the film at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes.

TATE tells the story of the life of actress Sharon Tate. Carefully crafted, the picture intends to honor Sharon: to give personal and poetic insight into her and her life. The focus will be on the woman and her life’s contribution. If what little we know of her has been eclipsed by tragedy, this movie aims to remove the megaphone from the maniac and to share her life, realistically and in a manner that has never before been told.

The film will explore Sharon from her early days as a Texas beauty queen, through her iconic and pop culturally referenced film and fashion moments, to her deeply personal relationships – most notably, her marriage to filmmaker Roman Polanski. Sharon Tate was the “It Girl” of the 1960’s. The story ends on August 9, 1969, the date Sharon Tate is brutally murdered. The screenplay has been highly confidential, as intimate details of her life from those closest to her will remain withheld until the film’s release for audiences to experience themselves.

Said Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico “Michael Polish’s script is a compelling portrait of a gifted and talented actress. This film will celebrate Sharon Tate’s extraordinary life as it intersected with the turbulent sixties, especially in fashion, film and music.”

Said director Michael Polish “This film will explore the life of Sharon Tate including her complicated but romantic relationship with her husband Roman Polanski. We are very grateful to have the opportunity bringing this script to life in a deeply personal manner including many details that have never been publicly shared until now.”

Bosworth is repped by CAA, Management360 and Alex Kohner at Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman. Polish is repped by Oren Segal at Management Production Entertainment and Alex Kohner at Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman.
