THE WILD BOYS, a film by Bertrand Mandico will be streaming on Mubi from 14 September with a special preview screening at close-up Cinema on 13 September

In the early 1900s, five teenagers from rich families are sent on a repressive cruise after murdering their teacher. Led by a violent captain, they arrive on a strange island with luxuriant, supernatural vegetation. As the song says, “a change is gonna come”.

Gender-bending, erotic, and experimental, the film is a “wildly strange” debut, taking its viewers along on an unexpected and thrilling journey of self-discovery. Relishing in the occult and the surreal, the film forces us to question our understanding of sexual norms and gender narratives, whilst immersing us in an entirely unique and magical world of strange beauty.
