Today The Film and TV Charity is announcing that The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will attend the forthcoming Royal Film Performance™ of Sam Mendes’ new film 1917.
The Royal Film Performance™, which will also be the World Premiere of the film, will take place at the ODEON Luxe, Leicester Square, London, on 4th December in aid of The Film and TV Charity.
The Royal Film Performance™ is the flagship fundraising event for The Film and TV Charity, an organisation that supports people working behind the scenes in the UK’s world-leading film and television industry.
Academy Award®-winner Sam Mendes, who directed, produced and co-wrote 1917, producer Pippa Harris, and stars of the film including George Mackay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Colin Firth, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Mark Strong, Daniel Mays, Nabhaan Rizwan and Claire Duburcq will take to the red carpet.
Alex Pumfrey, CEO of The Film and TV Charity, said “We’re honoured to welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to what will be the 71st Royal Film Performance, shining a light on everyone working behind the scenes of the UK’s thriving film and television industry.”
“The funds raised at this event will mean that we can continue to support the dedicated people working in film and TV with services like our 24 hour Support Line, talent awards and hardship grants.”
Tickets for the Royal Film Performance™ are now sold out, but two special gala screenings of the film will take place on the same night at Cineworld Leicester Square. These will bring guests close to the red carpet with an exclusive Behind the Scenes exhibition and the chance to watch coverage of stars of the film arrive.
Tickets are currently on sale via filmtvcharity.org.uk
1917 will be released beginning 25 December in the US by Universal Pictures continuing around the world in January. The film releases in the UK and Ireland on 10 January 2020. Entertainment One, Universal Pictures and Amblin Partners will distribute the film worldwide.
