All too often audiences and critics have directed a barrage of criticism the way of the DCEU for its often dark tone and nature, but with Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman the next film to emanate from the DC comic book pages by way of Warner Bros it looks like that dynamic may possibly change very soon.
In the lead-up to its June release, last night saw the release of the final trailer for the film and we cannot describe it any other way than that it is quite simply majestic. With Gal Gadot looking every bit the hero we need her to be, the new trailer is a showcase of some familiar footage mixed with a few extra glimpses at what we can expect from the first big screen rendition of the famed female star of the comics.
Looking to explore Princess Diana of Themyscira’s youth, origins and her own community, it looks like Wonder Woman will be a superb introduction to the character’s back story, with the setting of Themyscira itself looking particularly striking, along with the World War I setting that she finds herself thrust into after her meeting with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor. The trailer also packs a punch with its wonderfully choreographed action sequences so at the moment it looks like this could well tick all the boxes…
You can watch the final trailer below.
Wonder Woman is released in UK cinemas on 1st June.
