CineFix remixed Robert Eggers' The Witch to look like a Wes Anderson movie, and the results are just splendid. Watch: The Witch Directed By Wes Anderson Trailer

Robert Eggers’ ethereally terrifying The Witch is undoubtedly one of the best films of 2016. It is a master-craft of ambient, dread-inducing fear. Well, it was until the guys over at CineFix got their hands on the trailer, and decided to give it a little reworking.

To celebrate Wes Anderson’s fantastic H&M Christmas commercial “Come Together”, the YouTube channel remixed the horror into the quirky auteur’s trademark style, with heightened colour hues, pinkish typography, and rinky-tink upbeat music. These alterations have an alarming effect on the film’s overall tone and message; conveying more of a dysfunctional family dramedy to period psychological horror.

The Witch stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, and Kate Dickie, and is out now on Blu-ray and DVD in the United Kingdom. Ineson’s exceptional work in the film appears in our recent Amazing 2016 Performances That’ll Almost Certainly Gain No Awards feature, and our man Chris Haydon loved it so much, he made a detailed video essay on the movie, too.
