While you can see Danny DeVito in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s newest season, you might have missed him in the comedy drama Wiener-Dog. The director, Todd Solonz, has created a quirky comedy about the life of a dachshund being passed from one dysfunctional person to another. Danny DeVito acts alongside Greta Gerwig, Ellen Burstyn, Kieran Culkin and Julie Delpy in the critically-acclaimed comedy.
Both written and directed by Solonz, this also happens to be his eighth feature. Characters include a suburban couple, a veterinary nurse, a screenwriter and a bitter elderly woman. Watch as the lovable dog transforms their lives in this hilarious and moving film. The character of Greta Gerwig, the veterinary nurse, named Dawn Wiener was also the lead of Solonz’s 1995 film Welcome to the Dollhouse. Wiener-Dog takes the awkward lead and creates a masterpiece tackling risky themes. Not only is there wit, but camaraderie and optimism. Enjoy a cute dog connect four different stories with happiness.
Picturehouse Entertainment has just announced the home entertainment release of Wiener-Dog, with digital download, on 23rd January.
