There’s been some moving and shaking in the X-Men series this week. As 3 casting updates have been confirmed for its upcoming 2018 films.

For spin-off movie, X-Men: New Mutants – which focusses on an alternate team of young mutants, Rosario Dawson has stepped away from the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes – a mutant with the ability to produce a durable bio-field around her. Replacing her will be City Of God and Elysium star Alice Braga. The Brazilian actress currently appears in Queen Of The South, on ABC. As Teresa Mendoza.

Following the confirmed returns to the main series of several stars from X-Men: Apocalypse, it has also been reported that Evan Peters will return for a third outing in X-Men: Dark Phoenix as fan-favourite speedster, Quicksilver. He reteams with the ensemble cast of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp. Completing the established team at the conclusion of Apocalypse.

Meanwhile, Lamar Johnson has been cast in an undisclosed role. However, Academy Award Nominee Jessica Chastain is still being eyed to portray the movie’s antagonist – Lilandra.

Josh Boone’s New Mutants arrives in cinemas on April 13th 2018, with Dark Phoenix, directed by franchise stalwart Simon Kinberg, scheduled for later the same year on November 2nd.
