Following the positive news that Matt Reeves is now officially confirmed to direct The Batman, the DCEU has had another boost with the news that there will be a Nightwing movie coming our way in the future. This news is only bolstered by the fact that none other than The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is the man who will direct.
Who thought DC and Warner Bros could pull two rabbits out of the hat in one day?!
Anyway, if you’re not familiar with Nightwing, he is a DC character portrayed by Dick Grayson, who had previously been under the guise of Robin after being taken in by Batman himself, Bruce Wayne. After shedding his persona of Robin, Grayson would move on to take on the role of Nightwing and lead the Teen Titans before proceeding to become a popular character in his own solo role. He has been seen in various animated movies and videogames but this will be his first portrayal in the live-action stakes.
It’s a bold move for DC and Warner Bros but one that truly shows that they intend to continue expanding their universe to include some truly popular characters. This announcement also suggests that the Robin suit that we saw in Batman v Superman would indeed be that of the now deceased Jason Todd, killed at the hands of The Joker.
