Coach Taylor swaps the gridiron for Godzilla following his casting in the upcoming blockbuster. Friday Night Lights Star Joins Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

Kyle Chandler – star of the flawless Friday Night Lights, and Netflix’s Bloodline – is one of the finest actors of his generation. His recent, albeit slight, turn in Academy Award-nominee Manchester by the Sea was stirring, as was his profound supporting role in Todd Haynes’ masterpiece Carol. But in 2019, he’ll be leaving family fights and embarking on a mission against a Kaiju, as he’s just been cast in the upcoming sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters

The upcoming film, a sequel to the 2014 movie directed by Gareth Edwards, will be helmed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘R Treat), and is headed for a March 22nd, 2019 release date. Sources state that Chandler will play a scientist and father to Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown’s character, believed to be the hero of the picture.

In addition to serving as a sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will also form part of the Monsterverse currently being coordinated by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary. The next instalment, Kong: Skull Island, opens in UK cinemas this March.
