Hakuna Matata! Billy Eichner And Seth Rogen Set To Join The Lion King

Jon Favreau’s live action retelling of Disney animation classic, The Lion King, looks to be adding some fresh talent to their voice cast. As reports have emerged that comedians Seth Rogen (This Is The End, Bad Neighbours) and Billy Eichner (Parks & Rec, Difficult People) are currently in talks to join the film, voicing Pumbaa and Timon respectively. Following the castings of Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones – reprising his role from the 1994 film as Mufasa.
Pumbaa the warthog and Timon the meerkat were lovingly portrayed by Ernie Sabella and Nathan Lane, and are best known for their song ‘Hakuna Matata’ (it means no worries….). It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 67th Academy Awards, and was also ranked at 99 in AFI’s 100 Best American Movie Songs of all time.
The follows earlier news regarding The Lion King, confirmed by the folks over at Disney, that the film has a set release date of July 19th 2019.
