Ahead of its Home Entertainment release on DVD and Blu-ray, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards has been talking further about the project, and has addressed the issue of several shots from the trailer which failed to make the final cut.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Edwards stated that perhaps the biggest omission of them all – Jyn Erso marching towards a hovering TIE Fighter over the communication tower, whilst in the thick of battle upon Scarif – was actually only ever intended for the film’s promotion. We even commented on the TIE Fighter absence in our feature about the Rogue One trailer differences, which you can read here.

“It was something the marketing team fell in love with. We knew it would not be in the film. It’s one of those things where all the trailers are put together way before the film comes out. It wasn’t a specific part of the story,” said Edwards in the recent interview.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker. The mission comes home on 10th April.
