Skarsgard, Wright and Keough Join Jeremy Saulnier’s Hold The Dark

In what was a strong 2016 for horror, Jeremy Saulnier’s gripping and great ode to punk-rock Green Room, which saw our beloved Professor X AKA Patrick Stewart play a chilling Neo-Nazi and boasted a committed turn from the late Anton Yelchin, was a prime example of such genre brilliance.
The Blue Ruin director is wasting little time in fine-tuning his plans for his next cinematic effort, which has already been backed by Netflix.
Alongside his long-time collaborator Macon Blair once again who has written the script for this particular project, he will be adapting William Giraldi’s acclaimed 2014 novel Hold The Dark.
An Alaska-set narrative that looks to emphasise how savage and unforgiving nature can be, the book revolves around wolf biologist Russell Core who investigates the disappearance of the son of Iraq war veteran Vernon Slone. At first glance, this already seems to possess the pulpy thrills we’ve come to expect from Saulnier.
Heading up the film will be Alexander Skarsgard, as he looks to bounce back from the lukewarm responses to last year’s The Legend Of Tarzan directed by David Yates and War On Everyone alongside Michael Pena. Star of the much-loved HBO property Westworld Jeffrey Wright, with American Honey and Mad Max: Fury Road actress Riley Keough completing the ensemble.
Production on Hold The Dark is set to begin next month.
