Wait, What? A Venom Movie Is On Its Way From Sony?!

Just when you though we may never get a definitive version of classic Spider-Man villain Venom on the big screen Sony only go and drop a massive bombshell that a movie is scheduled for release on 5th October 2018. File this one under the massive surprises section as up until now there has been no mention of the symbiote-driven character reappearing after his dreadful addition to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, but low and behold miracles can happen!
After the failure to bring to life the Sinister Six, it looks like Sony have clearly been plotting behind the scenes to expand the Spider-Man universe and the new Venom movie is set spawn a new franchise that is set apart and unrelated to the Tom Holland side of things. An interesting move for sure but it does open up the possibility of a very different kind of Venom to the one that most people know.
Introduced in 1984, Venom evolved into a full-blown Spidey villain some four years later and has been the alter ego of the likes of Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson.
The upcoming film is bein produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, with script duties having been most recently covered by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker. Whether we’ll get a villainous version of Venom or heroic – as he has recently been labelled – it’ll be an intriguing prospect. All we ask is that we get Agent Venom pop up at some point!
