Twice The Stars, Twice The Explosions In ‘ The Expendables 2′ Trailer

the expendables 2When it first came to light that action’s greatest stars were to combine in the action film to put all others to shame, movie fans all over the world waited in anticipation. The Expendables arrived and, despite the mass firepower in the form of Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and more, it never quite caught the imagination as much as it possibly could have.

Clearly out to win over the masses with his love for the genre, Stallone has once again conjured up his elite team for a second outing, along with some new faces as well as bigger roles for original cameo stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Luckily, today is the day we get a taste of this new ‘dream team’ and, as expected, the first trailer for The Expendables 2 contains a multitude of explosions, weaponry and some pretty cheesy lines to say the least.

From Statham’s “I now pronounce you man and knife” to Schwarzenegger’s inevitable “I’m back”, we already know The Expendables 2 is bound to contain as many laughable lines as there are explosions and, now that we have witnessed the culmination of the first outing, this time around things could take more of a positive turn. Stallone obviously has a great passion for this film, adding the likes of action legends Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme into the fray, as well as current star Liam Hemsworth, so the sequel has the potential to out-do its predecessor.

Check out the explosive trailer below.

The Expendables 2, directed by Simon West, stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Liam Hemsworth, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Nan Yu and Chuck Norris.

The film is released in the UK on 17th August 2012.

About James Thompson

James is a 23 year old film fanatic who has recently taken the leap from talking about his passion for film to writing about it. Citing Donnie Darko as his favourite film, closely followed by Saving Private Ryan and Scarface, James is a keen follower of films from all genres and is always open to something new. “Despite never going to university to cover film, I believe that the passion I hold for this medium is huge. I am a regular cinema-goer, with an annual cinema pass of course, and I love a good blu ray view whilst carrying out my ironing duties at home! With an ever-growing dvd and blu ray collection at home my one golden rule is: Always unwrap a film once purchased, I hate films being left in their packaging! Hopefully you will all enjoy my content and share as much enthusiasm in film as I do”
