DC’s Shazam To Be Split Into Two Films

It was only last week that Dwayne Johnson, set to star in this year’s R-rated Baywatch movie, put on Instagram a picture of him at DC’s offices and explained how he’d had some very exciting talks with executives there. At the time we knew it would be something with regards to his upcoming role in Shazam! as the evil Black Adam but had little more information than that – until now.

According to Deadline, Shazam! is now set to become two separate films, with Johnson’s Black Adam himself getting his own singular movie. In the current state that the DC movie universe is in it’s certainly a long way off for these projects but at least we can be safe in the knowledge that Johnson is set to be one of the key people to spearhead the charge for the future.

After all, Shazam and Black Adam both have their own historical arcs that could transfer onto screen and it certainly poses an advantageous situation if they could establish both characters singularly before combining them. It’ll be of great interest to see just how DC and Warner Bros deal with this one.

For now, let’s look forward to Johnson tackle the beach in Baywatch and defend the family honour in Fate Of The Furious (or Fast and Furious 8)
