If there’s one thing that you can almost guarantee with director Kathryn Bigelow it’s that she’ll bring to the plate a truly hard-hitting and affecting drama that will guarantee to get people talking. The likes of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty did just that – along with garnering Academy Award awards – and now it looks like her latest film Detroit will be no different.
Tackling a pivotal and arresting real life event that would rock the state of Michigan, Bigelow’s movie looks to be one that will relive a truly terrifying time in the late ’60s, with an absolutely stellar cast to boot. With the likes of British talents John Boyega and Will Poulter involved, it’s fantastic to witness such young homegrown actors making waves in the film world and they are joined by equally impressive figures in Jack Reynor and Anthony Mackie.
