Josh Boone’s upcoming X-Men series spin-off, The New Mutants, is now beginning to take fuller shape. As casting news emerged this week for the latest roles and their respective actors for the 2018 Marvel comic book/rumoured horror film.

Following the news of Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy joining the ranks as Wolfsbane and Magik. Sources have revealed that Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) has been cast as Sam Guthrie, aka Cannonball. A founding member of the team, with the abilities to create impenetrable blast fields and of jet propulsive flight. This update also reports that Hollywood actress Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Luke Cage) is in talks to play Dr Cecilia Reyes, a mentor to the young team.

The Neflix alumni acquisitions doesn’t stop there either. Henry Zaga, who can be seen in the popular and controversial 13 Reasons Why, is also slated appear in the film as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot. A character that has already been seen in the X-Movie series back in 2014’s Days Of Future Past, played by Adan Canto. The final piece of casting news confirms the role of Danielle Moonstar/Mirage, a multi-powered mutant, has been awarded to Blu Hunt (The Originals).

With this seemingly completed core cast for the film, there is still the role of Warlock to be confirmed. And speculation of whether James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier will appear, will also be a talking point over the next few months.
