Following its Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, the kind folks at 20th Century Fox UK have provided a brand new clip and video featurette for Hidden Figures; the remarkable true story about the pioneering African-American women at the heart of the NASA space program during the 1960s.
Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kevin Costner, and directed by Theodore Melfi, the heartwarming and timely film opens in UK cinemas on 17th February.
In the clip – entitled “Make You First” – we see Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) making a stand against the segregation in the state of Virginia, as she fights for her right to attend an all-white education centre, meanwhile the “Monica Grady” featurette, where Monica Grady, professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at the Open University, shares her own story of science and how Katherine Johnson has inspired and impacted her life. Check them both out below.

HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanised the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
