Saw Gerrera Is Coming To Star Wars Rebels, And Forest Whitaker Will Provide The Voice…

Saw Gerrera is perhaps the original Rebel. The primary figure who brought the fight to the Imperial Empire after he could no longer stand residing in a galaxy reigned by repression and terror. We’ve seen him in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and most recently alongside Jyn Erso in Gareth Edwards’ remarkable Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but now character creator Dave Filoni is bringing him back to the small-screen.

Following the festive mid-season break, Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels will return with the two-parter episode ‘Ghosts of Geonosis’, in which Saw will make his first appearance alongside Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, and the remainder of The Ghost crew. As narratively Rebels takes place before Rogue One, we’ll get to see his character fleshed out further, and gain more clarity as to why his methods became more and more extreme, ultimately causing the Alliance as many problems as solutions. Acclaimed performer Forest Whitaker portrays the Clone Wars veteran in Edwards’ movie – read our glowing review right here – and will lend his voice for the animated depiction, too.
