Titanic Is Officially The Nation’s Favourite Soundtrack

Some time ago before Christmas the team here at Filmoria came together to present to you our favourite movie soundtracks, culminating in an array of talented composers and classic theme songs, and now a new survey carried out has done just that, with Titanic coming out on top.
James Horner’s simply scintillating soundtrack is a true work of musical genius, and the UK have had their say in agreeing with that notion. The poll of 2,000 people garnered some excellent choices, including the likes of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Jurassic Park, but ultimately the 11-time Oscar winner (which incidentally included Best Score and Best Song) was the overall victor.
You can see the top ten of the poll below.
The nation’s top 10 film soundtracks:
- Titanic
- Chariots of Fire
- Star Wars
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- The Great Escape
- The Magnificent Seven
- Back to the Future
- Gladiator
- Jurassic Park
The research revealed that 20% of those Brits polled will tolerate a film they dislike, if they love the music. Equally, 59% of the nation thinks a bad musical score can completely ruin a film.
A third (33 per cent) of Brits agree that music is their favourite part of a film, with a dramatic score being the nation’s preferred style for almost half (46 per cent).
